Christian Life Coaching
What is a Christian Life Coach:
A Christian life coach is a forward-looking coach and partner who helps you become the fullest version of who God created you to be. The process is intentional and collaborative, hopefully fun, and decidedly concrete, fruitful. Unlike perhaps your high school coaches, a Christian life coach does not yell from the sidelines telling you what to do and how to do it. Rather, together we identify priorities and values across different aspects of your life (see diagram) so you can pursue personal, professional, or spiritual goals using both practical action plans and biblical principles.
What does a Christian Coach Do?
A Christian life coach helps someone move from where they are to where they believe God is calling them to be, using coaching practices grounded in Christian faith. In practical terms, a Christian life coach typically:
-
Clarifies goals and calling — helps you identify what you want, what God may be inviting you toward, and what is getting in the way.
-
Creates accountability — helps turn intentions into concrete actions and follows up on commitments.
-
Identifies patterns and obstacles — explores habits, beliefs, fears, priorities, and behaviors that may be limiting growth.
-
Helps with decision-making — provides questions and perspective rather than simply telling you what to do.
-
Connects faith and daily life — may incorporate Scripture, prayer, spiritual practices, and Christian values into the coaching process.
-
Supports personal growth and change — helps develop practical rhythms, habits, boundaries, and strategies for living more intentionally.
-
Encourages and challenges — offers both affirmation and honest questions when you're stuck or avoiding something.
What does a Christian Life Coach not Do?
Christian Life Coaching is not the same as therapy, clinical mental health counseling, or Spiritual Direction. For more on the differences and roles of each, please visit the blogs linked here.
